Halcyon Arts Lab (2017-2021)

From 2017-2021, residential Halcyon Arts Lab Fellowships provided support and resources to emerging artists working on projects addressing issues of social justice, civic engagement, and community building. The residencies included rent-free housing, studio space, a stipend, skill building programming, exhibition opportunities, and access to a network of collectors, curators, and other experts.

By the People

Complementing our Arts Lab Fellowships, Halcyon began By the People in 2018 as a free, city-wide arts and dialogue festival, which eventually evolved into a flexible platform for community-based arts programming and initiatives. In two years, the festival drew over 60,000 visits to larger-than-life art installations and events across Washington, D.C. and the broader DC-area, and in 2020, a virtual By The People x Monochrome Collective Art Fair showcased work from 50 working artists from the DMV, offering artist talks and other event programming in addition to an online store.
