After serving as a key connector between investors and entrepreneurs for years, and particularly after seeing the shortage of capital for under-represented founders and impact-driven ventures, Halcyon created multiple funding vehicles to infuse capital into Halcyon alumni ventures and other aligned companies to amplify their impact in Climate, Health, and EquityTech.
Halcyon Fund I
In February 2022, Halcyon closed its $5M pilot fund investing in alumni of Halcyon fellowships. Halcyon Fund I launched with an average initial investment of $120K, and is now fully deployed. Of the 17 companies in the portfolio, 71% were founded by women and 71% were founded by people of color.

Halcyon Venture Partners
Halcyon Venture Partners (HVP) is a sister organization to Halcyon.
Halcyon Fund I remains an investment vehicle under the Halcyon umbrella, with HVP managing the fund on Halcyon’s behalf. Halcyon Angels began under the Halcyon umbrella and is now ‘HVP Angels,’ managed by HVP, along with Halcyon Fund II. Halcyon benefits from the new Fund II in several ways, including receiving economic gain in the form of a portion of the carried interest from the Fund that will be unrestricted income to the 501(c)(3).
HVP also remains engaged with Halcyon’s ecosystem by leading skill series for Halcyon cohorts, participating in Halcyon’s selections process, serving as advisors to Halcyon founders, and more.
In January 2024, Kate Goodall, Halcyon’s Co-Founder and former CEO, and Dahna Goldstein, Halcyon’s former CIO, launched the spin-off Halcyon Venture Partners (HVP). HVP raised and is deploying Halcyon Fund II. The Fund invests in ventures in Climate, Health, and EquityTech at the pre-seed and seed stage from the Halcyon accelerator and beyond.

Angels
HVP Angels are a network of active angel investors who accelerate the growth of impact-driven startups. The group gathers quarterly to hear hand-selected pitches from both Halcyon founders and other impact-driven entrepreneurs.
HVP Angels is the only DMV-area network focused on impact investments, bringing together investors who value financial, social, and environmental returns and are committed to investing in underrepresented founders. Members make individual investment decisions, with investments made through HVP Angels-managed special purpose vehicles.
In May 2025, Halcyon’s Adam Caplan began a new role as Halcyon’s Investment Manager, part of an ongoing initiative to continue expanding our support for founders and alumni in their fundraising journeys. This work includes enhancing Halcyon’s programmatic curricula—particularly around alternative financing options—growing and targeting Halcyon’s investor network, and facilitating investment opportunities between Halcyon’s founders, alumni, and expanded investor network. This role is located within Halcyon’s Programs team and is distinct from, but collaborative with, the HVP team.
