Grants Manager
Reports to: Director of Development
Location:Preference for hybrid candidates in Washington, DC. Remote US-based candidates outside of the DC area will also be considered.
Status: Full-Time Exempt
Salary Range: $70,000-$80,000 (salary commensurate with experience)
The Grants Manager is responsible for leading the strategy, development, and execution of grant proposals and reporting to support Halcyon’s mission and strategic goals. This role will manage a portfolio of grant applications, foster relationships with key stakeholders, and collaborate with internal teams to maximize funding opportunities.

What We Need:
Grant Strategy and Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive grant strategy aligned with the organization’s goals.
- Identify and research prospective grant opportunities from government, corporate, foundation, and individual donors.
- Lead the preparation, writing, and submission of high-quality grant proposals, including budgets and supporting documentation.
- Track the status of grants and the pipeline of prospects via our CRM in a timely and effective manner.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with program and finance teams to ensure grant compliance and financial guidelines, as well as log contributions and file electronic records of gifts.
- Coordinate with the Communications team to effectively promote partnerships and grant-funded projects.
- Work with the Communications team to help develop content for one-page overviews or slide deck presentations for funder proposals.
- Monitor grant and partnership activities, actively coordinating with the team, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to funders through proven operations systems.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Prepare regular progress reports for senior leadership and funding partners.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of grant and partnership initiatives, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Facilitate team sessions to review funding forecasts, discuss funding scenarios, model fundraising targets, and capture key next steps; help quantify total addressable market and establish a realistic revenue scenario for year-ahead development planning.
What You Are:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, and partnership development, preferably in a nonprofit or similar environment.
- Proven track record of securing significant grant funding and managing successful partnerships.
- Preferred experience fundraising for, or a broad understanding of, social entrepreneurship, venture support organizations, impact investing or ecosystem building.
- Preference for hybrid candidates in Washington, DC. Remote US-based candidates outside of the DC area will also be considered.

- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficient in using grant management software, project management software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, internally and externally.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive and results-oriented approach.

Schedule and Work Environment:
- 8-hour shift, standard working hours are 9:00 AM–5:00 PM ET Monday to Friday.
- Weekends and evenings as needed.
- Work Location: Hybrid in Washington, DC, with two days in the office and three days remote. Halcyon also offers two weeks of ‘Work from Anywhere” time as an additional benefit.
- Remote US-based candidates may have to travel into DC for periodic business meetings and retreats.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, comfortable with standing, climbing stairs, walking, and sitting.
- Some domestic and international travel may be required, up to 10%.
