Korea Fellowship (2018)
This program featured some of the most promising early-stage ventures from Korea, from entrepreneurs creating an online platform for matching artists with manufacturers to founders developing speech recognition technology for the hard-of-hearing. The Korea Intensive was part of a Halcyon initiative to develop thriving social enterprise ecosystems abroad.
Humanscape
Humanscape is a blockchain technology that allows patients to retain control and authority over their own health data and improve overall health care and treatment throughout the health system. Rgwie technology will allow for 350 million people suffering from rare diseases to be able to track their health and search for better treatments and cures. People’s health data should not be monopolized by a few but must be safely controlled and utilized in a transparent manner for the public interest. Patients’ health data has been in the hands of third parties who try to monopolize and commercialize it. Thus, it was nearly impossible for patients to know to what extent their health record is collected, who needs them, and how it is used. However, on a blockchain that provides a transparent environment for data usage, anyone can look up the transactions of data, and ultimately, patients can retain control and authority over their own health data. Moreover, by incentivizing patients in return for their creation of intellectual content or provision of health information, patients receive fair compensation. And this economic reward helps alleviate financial burdens like medical costs.
Designovel
Designovel is an online platform using artificial intelligence technology to match the work of artists with interested fashion designers and manufacturers. The Designovel platform displays the work of unknown artists represented in fashion, and in return, the artist will receive a royalty, and the buyer receives customers. The reason why the art of new artists is unknown to the world, and the reason why they do not generate profit, is because they are not sold as products that are familiar to us. Replicating their art in fashion was also not easy because it is costly. With our technology, however, we can sell their artwork to a customer at a fast pace with little or no cost. As a result, new artists get more chances, and people can see their art collection more readily.
Hagahi
Hagahi brings luxury quality clothing with hand beading, embroidery and custom fabrication and tailoring to customers worldwide, from local women manufacturers in Bali. The goal of this venture is to involve local women, especially from Bali, to get a chance to design luxury clothing, Â and then when Hagahi sells it to the market, these women get paid at the factory-rate. The local community is currently being exploited by the factory owners and are being paid less than market rates. Hagahi would help those women find work and be paid sufficiently for their services. There is a huge market for handmade clothing and custom tailoring that Hagahi will take advantage of.
Sovoro
Sovoro provides real time, automatic transcription for hard-of-hearing students and employees based on speech recognition. This technology automatically transcribes audio into text and runs in the background of whatever media is being used. They offer extremely cheap and convenient solutions compared to existing interpretation support, because automatic transcription is a very efficient approach to solve daily needs for the hard-of-hearing.
