Halcyon CEO Kate Goodall describes her D.C. dream day

Kate Goodall believes D.C. is the perfect city for creative people working to make the world a better place. To give those folks a leg up, the English-born entrepreneur in 2017 co-founded Halcyon, an organization that provides residencies, mentorships and financial support for emerging artists and social entrepreneurs. She also launched an arts festival last year called By the People, which aims to spur productive conversations among regular D.C. citizens. As is typical for Goodall’s projects, By the People is expanding — the 2019 edition will run an entire week and include even more sites than last year’s weekend-long festival. She gets only 24 hours for her D.C. dream day, but she’s filled it up with her favorite spots in her adopted hometown.
