Born and raised in Haiti, Bernice Nere Charles developed an early passion for sustainable development and environmental protection. Driven by the desire to create practical solutions to the country’s energy and waste management challenges, she founded COSMOS SOLUTION, a social enterprise specializing in renewable energy, biogas production, and organic waste valorization.

A visionary Haitian civil engineer and specialist in biogas technology, Bernice has spent more than a decade promoting access to green energy solutions across Haiti. Through COSMOS SOLUTION, she leads technical training programs, collaborates with schools and universities, and develops community-based initiatives with farmers by transforming organic waste into clean energy and organic fertilizer. Her work combines environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and the economic empowerment of vulnerable communities.

A strong advocate for climate action and sustainable development, Bernice continues to promote innovative environmental solutions in Haiti. In recognition of her leadership and social impact, she received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award in 2025.
