Portfolio and Community Internship

Halcyon is offering an exciting internship opportunity for academic credit, providing undergraduate and graduate students with valuable hands-on experience that complements their academic development. Candidates must be able to receive college credit for their internship experience to be eligible.

Our office is located in downtown Washington, DC at 1100 15th St NW. It is close to the Metro, including the Farragut North and Farragut West Metro Stations, as well as many bus lines.

Why Intern at Halcyon

Through this internship, you will gain hands-on experience in project management, program design, and ecosystem building while helping to co-design workshops and panels that support impact-driven entrepreneurship in the DMV region. You’ll also gain valuable research skills and learn about various impact measurement methodologies for Halcyon’s key sectors areas: Health, Climate and EquityTech.

Position Summary

The Summer Intern will support Halcyon’s Alumni team by researching, organizing, and analyzing portfolio data for impact-driven startups. This role will contribute to alumni reporting, data systems, and coordinating alumni programming across Halcyon’s program pillars: Capital Strategy, Leadership Development, and Product-Market Fit. The intern will also explore opportunities to research AI and automation to improve portfolio data collection and analysis.

  • Assist Halcyon’s Alumni team through researching, collecting, and updating key alumni portfolio data, impact, and performance metrics.
  • Support the development and maintenance of systems for tracking and reporting alumni outcomes.
  • Assist with coordinating alumni programming, including workshops, panels, events, skill series, and project management.
  • Help refine tagging and filtering systems for venture sectors and portfolio analysis.
  • Research AI tools and automation opportunities to improve portfolio management and insights.
  • Collaborate with team members to support special projects as needed.
  • This is a part-time (20 hours per week), in-person role that will run during the summer from June–August.

Experience Required/Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.
  • Is ideally pursuing a degree in economics, data science, computer science, business, business analytics, or international development.
  • Thrives working in a fast-paced, dynamic, start-up environment.
  • Passion for impact-driven entrepreneurship.
  • Interested in research and impact measurement methodologies.
  • Highly organized and analytical.

 

Special Considerations:

• You must be able to receive college credit for your internship experience to be eligible.
• Willingness to work occasional evenings to assist with programs and events.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently to achieve common objectives.
  • Reliable work ethic to complete tasks and pitch in where needed.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written skills including grammar and punctuation.
  • Proven ability to communicate articulately and creatively including identifying and recommending solutions to problems.
  • Comfortable with large data sets and data analytics background (preferred but not required).
